Recently, we had the chance to sit-down with Meaux Green, one of the most sought out DJ/producers in the game. Meaux Green has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including collaborations with Tropkillaz, D!RTY AUD!O, Party Favor, and his music is supported by some of the greats including DJ Snake, Craze, Diplo, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, and many more. He recently just finished The Dead Presidents Tour with Valentino Khan and Gents & Johns this past summer.
Where did the name Meaux Green come from?
Back in the day, me and my friends used to have fake rapper names and mine was originally “Mo Green”…meaning more money, more weed, and more whatever. Once I started making music, I kept asking my friends if I should go by “this DJ name” or “that DJ name”, and they said “No!, you’re Meaux Green!”.
How did you get started in your career?
I had some musical background playing in punk bands in high school, but I first started DJing at house parties. Then someone said my music selection was good and different than everyone else’s, and told me I would be really good at producing. So I was given a copy of Ableton and soon after I just sat down and learned as much as I could about producing. I didn’t want just do it half-ass, I wanted to make sure I could be the best at it.
Do you remember your first gig?
There used to be this thing in Orlando called “Riot Wednesdays” and I played maybe 20 songs and was nervous as hell the whole time. Some guys I used to chill and party with at “Riot Wednesdays” were Henry Fong, DallasK, Milo and Otis, and now we’re all touring which is pretty sweet.
Do you have a bromance with Party Favor?
He’s bae. We both have the same work ethic, but we are two totally different people. Party Favor arrives at his gigs on-time, plays his set, maybe has one drink, and goes back to the hotel. Me on the other-hand; I turn the fuck up, pouring people drinks, getting girls on stage to twerk, and go to any after-parties. It works out-well because we balance each other out he takes care of me when I get to fucked up. I love that guy!
Are you working on anything later this year?
I would like to work on an EP or mini-album.
What’s in your DJ bag?
DJ equipment and Magnums.
What do you like to do for fun?
Chill with friends or play poker. I’m usually busy being on the road or working in the studio.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I don’t know, hopefully still involved with the music scene.
Do you have anything to say to your fans?
I love you guys and thank you for the support. I’ll be seeing you guys soon.
