Nitti Gritti is one of the most sought out DJ/Producers in the game and his stock will only continue to rise. He is a one-man wrecking crew, a former musician turned DJ/Producer, he writes, sings, produces, mixes, and masters his own music. He is currently headlining his own world tour and has an EP coming out next month on Tchami’s label, Confession. Recently, we had the chance to sit-down with Nitti Gritti at EDC Orlando to talk about his music, career, and life.
How did you get started as a DJ?
I started a little over a year ago. I’ve been making and producing music for the past four years. I was in bands playing guitar and drums and decided a year ago I wanted to pursue electronic music.
Where does the name Nitti Gritti come from?
I have to give credit to Paige from Bonnie x Clyde for coming up with the name Nitti Gritti. I asked them for help on a name and wanted a name that described bass music and also mean that I really care about the music, so getting down to the “nitty gritty” means getting down to the core and the core for me was the music.
What three words describe your style?
Loud, diverse, and hectic.
What artists influenced you?
At first, bands like Taking Back Sunday and Slipknot. After that, it was earlier guys like Skrillex, Diplo, and Excision. And those guys really go in-and-out of genres, which is kind of my style and what I enjoy.
You have an upcoming tour, what can people expect from your sets?
I just want to rage. I just want a sweaty, insane, feel-good, and maybe have a few throwbacks in my set. At the end of my set, I just want to be sweaty with a smile on my face.
Tampa! We had fun last time! See you on Wednesday for some Thanksgiving festivities

Lets say you can tour with any three DJs in the world, who do you bring on tour?
Right now, I’d bring the homies I’ve enjoyed making music with like Kompany and Adair. And I have an EP coming up for Tchami’s label (Confession), so I’d say Tchami, that would be a fun set to have.
Can you tell us about your upcoming EP?
It will be released on Tchami’s lablel, Confession, and it has three songs on it right now that will be released in December. The sounds of the tracks will be house with some Trap influence and one track with a throwback 90’s vibe kinda like G-House feels.
What is your ultimate goal as a DJ/Producer?
I want to tour the world as a DJ, but my ultimate goal is to win a Grammy for “Producer of the Year” and produce music for bands and pop music. I want to do it all.
Where is one place you’ve always wanted to play?
Australia! And I get to go and play their in a few weeks.
If you weren’t DJ/Producing what would you be doing right now?
Maybe hanging out with friends and building Legos. Actually, my parents were missionaries, so I’d probably be doing something with the church.
What is something many people don’t know about you?
I was a white dude who lived in Haiti for eight years. My parents were missionaries, so I lived and went to school there for eight years. I learned a lot and don’t take anything for granted.
What do you like to do for fun?
I try to eat right and workout. I love playing soccer and building Legos, I spend a lot more money than I should on Legos.
Outside your EP coming out next month, what do you have coming up in 2018 that you can share?
I have collaborations with Adair, Kompany, and a lot of other homies coming out next year. And Snake asked me to do a remix recently. I’ve done few remixes for Diplo, but I’m not sure when those are coming out, but stay tuned.
Do you have anything to say to your fans?
Come to a show and rage with me. Thank you all for your support!
Look for Nitti Gritt’s EP next month and make sure to see them live when they come to a city near you.
